Training

We offer training in a wide range of subjects, listed below. We can provide training at your premises or arrange a venue appropriate to your business location. All successful trainees are awarded certificates.

Many of the courses we provide are eligible for CITB grant funding.

Our training courses include:

ABRASIVE WHEELS SAFETY
Many accidents occur due to the mis-use of equipment. Abrasive wheel portable cutting machines are used on almost every construction site, however only a small percentage of operators have been provided with the necessary instructional training required by health and safety law. This course introduces the candidates to the hazards of a cut off machine as well as demonstrating how to mount the abrasive wheel correctly. Upon completion of the half day instructional training, as well as passing the overall assessment questionnaire, each candidate will receive a pass certificate for the course.

PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT (PPE)
Although PPE is the last line of defence; it is still a legal requirement to wear PPE when a hazard cannot be controlled by other means. Most construction sites have strict guidelines which state it is mandatory to wear PPE on site, however knowing the correct way to use and maintain your PPE is very important if it is to protect the user. This short course will demonstrate the correct way to wear PPE, identify what it protect a person from as well as providing the essential information on storage and maintenance. Upon completion of the course, including passing an assessment questionnaire, candidates will receive a pass certificate.

PRE-CSCS HEALTH AND SAFETY TEST
It is envisaged that in the near future, all workers within the construction industry will be required to hold a CSCS card recognising their individual specific qualifications. Without the CSCS card the person will not be allowed on a construction site. Many of the major construction contractors are already enforcing persons on site either hold a card or can prove they are in the process of gaining a card.
Passing the CSCS touch screen health and safety test is the first step to gaining a card, however this can be daunting to any person who has no prior knowledge of the scheme or requirements. By attending this short course, candidates are informed of the requirements of attending the test, as well as guided through the official test process.
The course will last for approximately 2 hrs depending on the numbers attending, and will cover such topics as types of CSCS test, location details, identification requirements as well as carrying out mock tests. The course has been extremely successful, with 99% of candidates going on to pass the official CSCS test.
